Mary Stewart White Fortune lost her battle with brain cancer on June 11, 2015.

Mary Stewart was born on December 4, 1964, in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia. She graduated from Milton High in Alpharetta, and Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where she met her future husband, Terry Fortune.

Mary Stewart was an accomplished rafting guide, and led many trips down the Nantahala River.

As a Delta Flight Attendant she had layovers in Pensacola. It was these layovers that God used to bring Terry and Mary Stewart together. Terry's Mom says she prayed that God would find someone who could live with Terry and He sent Mary Stewart. June 11, 2015, was their 26th Wedding Anniversary.

Her children helped her make the decision to leave Delta Airlines to become a fulltime Mom. They will tell you she was the best Mom ever!

In 2001, she was a driving force in bringing the community together to build the Benny Russell Park. Not long after the completion of the Benny Russell Park she was recognized as the Woman of the Year by the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce. On April 2015, she was an Honorary Chair of the Santa Rosa County's Relay for Life event.

Mary Stewart was predeceased by her parents, Norborne Briggs Berkeley White and Helen Cates White.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Leon Fortune; her children, Berkeley Stewart Fortune, Perri Lee Fortune and Colton Cates Edmond Fortune. Also surviving are her sister, Nancye White Frank; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edmond and Ruthie Fortune; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Felicia Fortune Northcutt and Steven, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edmond (Skip) Fortune and Georganne; and her nieces and nephews, Katie Frank, Jenna Northcutt Hughes and Eddie, Savannah Fortune, Chad Northcutt, Casey Fortune.

Services are pending. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements.

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our sweet Mary Stewart. We take comfort in knowing we will see her again in Heaven. We love you to the Moon and back.
