Betty Besparis-Johnson, 74, of Barnesville, was taken into heaven on the morning of June 12th, and became a beautiful angel. After a long battle with cancer, Betty is now at peace.
She is the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Wardigo-Besparis. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Johnson, and a grandson, Zakary Kopinetz. Also, preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Danny, and Joey, and one sister, Dorothy.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandy Bova with her husband, John, Lori Manjone with her husband, James Jr., and Donna Kopinetz with her husband, Mike; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Her passions in life usually took her outside and into nature. She loved the simple things in life. Material things never mattered to her. Love, consideration and kindness meant the most. An example of a perfect day for Betty was a bottle of Pepsi and fishing on the boat from dusk until dawn. She baked the best blueberry muffins with the blueberries she had picked herself. She had a green thumb and made the best chow-chow with the vegetables from her garden. She loved going to the casino and you would probably find her rolling dice on the craps table.
Most of all, out of all her hobbies and loves, caring for her grandchildren is what she lived for. She dedicated her life to inspiring them to be the best people they can be. The love between Betty and her grandchildren had no boundaries. Her admirable personality and sense of humor will go on through each and every one of us. Mammam is now our guardian angel that will watch over us.
A graveside service was held in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights, with the Rev. Joseph Whalen officiating. Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc. handled the arrangements.
