Simon Oehler was born in Schutterwald, Baden, Germany. He married Emerensia Lehmann. The couple became pioneers of Hamilton County, Ohio, having immigrated circa 1817, arriving in Cincinnati on September 28, 1817. Simon's occupation was gardener. A Simon Euler was naturalized Nov. 1826. This was most likely the subject of this memorial.

Simon and Emerensia's known children were: Maria Anna, wife of Joseph Francis Freis; Johann (John), husband of Julia Reichle; Barbara Ottilie, wife of Michael Wolfer; Anthony (Anton), husband of Rosina (Helena) Auer; William, husband of Rosina (Rosa) Fichter.
