Adean Neilson Mason, 77, passed away peacefully December 20, 2012, at her home after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born April 9, 1935, in Lewiston, Utah to Neils Alma and Dorothea Neilson. She graduated from Ogden High School and soon after enlisted in the US Navy. She served at the St Alban's Naval Hospital in New York at the very end of the Korean War. She married Jay Ross Mason, December 8, 1956, in Long Island, New York. They traveled throughout the US and South Pacific during Jay's 20 years in the Navy . She graduated from Stevens Henager College. She was retired from the US Government working in finance at DDO Ogden and The Columbus Finance and Accounting Service. For the past many years she has enjoyed doing ceramics at the Marshall White Center in Ogden. Adean was a past Worldwide delegate for the Alanon Family Groups. She is survived by her three Children, Dorothy (David) Hart, Layton; Howard (Nida) Mason, Sunset; and Janet (Mike) Bertoch, Roy; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her five sisters, Rita Rowe, North Carolina; Diane Paul, Oklahoma; Judy (David) Morgan, Sunset; Carol (Howard) Elting, Clinton; and Beth (Doug) Nead, Washington. She has many nieces and nephews who also loved her dearly. Adean's wishes were to be cremated and buried with Jay in Lewiston, Utah. The family will gather for a private graveside service in the spring.
