Mr. Howell was a native of Alamance County, NC, son of the late Sherard Brown Howell & Mary Slaughter Sligh and husband of 25 years to Tonya Humphries Howell who survives. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and inspiration to many, was employed by AWNC and was a member of Ca-vel Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Steven Drake Howell, brother, Michael Terrance Howell, mother-in-law, Joyce Humphries, father and mother-in-law, Bruce & Deloise Humphries, brother-in-law, Rodney Humphries & wife Suzanne all of Roxboro niece, Ally Humphries and 2 nephews, Zack Humphries and Dustin Howell.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Ca-vel Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Long. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at his home, 214 Charles St, Roxboro, NC.
Memorials may be to the Ca-vel Baptist Church General Fund, 1885 Clayton St, Roxboro, NC 27573.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses that cared for Steven at Duke Hospital and the Hock Family Pavilion.
