Mr. Sage was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving from 1984 until his honorable discharge with the rank of lance corporal in 1988. While in the Marines, he worked in electronics and maintained harrier jets in Cherry Point, N.C. He also served on the Cherry Point Marine Corps Drill Team and was active in the Marine Corps Youth Soccer League.
After his military service, he returned to North Adams and joined the New England Telephone now Verizon, where he was working at the time of his death.
Mr. Sage was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a coach for the Hoosac Tunnel Youth Soccer League. He enjoyed sports and playing golf.
