Emma G. Orendorff was born in Ritchie county, Virginia, October 1, 1870, coming to Boone county, Nebraska when a young girl. She departed this life Tuesday, June 13, at the age of 68 years, eight months and 13 days.
She was married to Bert Barnes of Loretto on July 2, 1902 and has made her home in the Loretto community ever since.
She leaves to mourn her going her husband, A. R. Barnes; her daughter, Lucy Michel and son-in-law, Wm. Michel; five grandchildren, Marion, Theodore, June, Sharon Rose and Donavon Michel, all of Loretto, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dixon of North Bend, and Mrs. Matt Crabtree of Grand Island; and one brother, John Orendorff, of Woodland, California. One grandson, Burrel Jerome preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Loretto Methodist church, serving on the church board many years. She was also a member of the Woman's Home Missionary Society of the church, was president of the Ladies Aid Society, and held other offices in different organizations.
She was a faithful and loving wife and mother, and a true and understanding friend who will be greatly missed in the community.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Loretto at 1:30 Thursday afternoon with Rev. Samuel McKeown of Elgin and Loretto, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
