Minnie Perkins Helm

Minnie Becotte Helm (Paris/Perkins), beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 6, 2006 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 97.

Minnie was born January 13, 1909 to William Grant and Laura Ellen (Wright) Paris in Wanette, Oklahoma.

She moved to Garvin County when she was seven years old, attended school at Whitebead, Oklahoma, and graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1928.

Minnie married Roy Perkins on January 19, 1929 at the First Christian Church in Norman, Oklahoma. They made their home in Pauls Valley and together they owned and operated Roy Perkins Lumber Company in Pauls Valley, Maysville and Ada, Oklahoma.

Minnie and Roy enjoyed 41 years of marriage before she became a widow in 1970. She married Lester Helm in 1980 and became a widow again in 1986.

Minnie was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister and daughter. She loved to cook for her family and friends and was well known as the "best cook in Pauls Valley." Family gatherings in her home are special memories that will always be cherished.

Minnie enjoyed being a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Pauls Valley Historical Society and working with the blood bank and election board.

She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Pauls Valley since 1922 and for many years enjoyed teaching Sunday School, playing the piano and being a member of the Bower's Guild.

Minnie was a pillar of strength to her family during good times and bad and always put her trust in her Lord Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Laura Ellen Paris; her husbands, Roy Perkins and Lester Helm; her brothers: Ben, Lou and Barney Paris; her sister, Nell Purcell; stepson, Cliff Helm; and stepson-in-law, Bill Michaels.

She is survived by her daughters: LaVon Archer and son-in-law Gary Archer, and Linda Perkins, Pauls Valley; stepdaughter, Olivia Michaels of Kansas City; and step-daughter-in-law, Beverly Helm of Guthrie.

Her grandchildren are Derrick Archer and wife Stacy of Tulsa, Shari Macfee and husband Les of Dallas, Texas, Seth Meisel and fiancé Renee Hughes of Austin, Texas, and Anna Paris Meisel of Norman. Her great-grandchildren are Nikolai Mikhail Archer of Tulsa and Olivia Paris Macfee of Dallas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, with Dr. Bob Kanary officiating.

Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
