Dwight Clifford Teel, 73,of Whiting died Wednesday, Aug 6, 2003, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hornick United Methodist Church in Hornick, Iowa, with the Rev. Carolyn Bittner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City with military rites conducted by American Legion Hindmann-Steele Post 429. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Dwight was born July 10, 1930, in Sioux City, the son of Vess and Marie (Steele) Teel. He attended Hornick High School. In 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict until 1952.

He married Darlene Gerbes on April 10, 1953, in Sioux City. The couple made their home in the Hornick and Whiting area, where he took great pride in farming for more than 50 years.

Most important in his life was his love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved family gatherings and enjoyed a good time. Family and friends remember his generosity and caring. He was a member of Hornick United Methodist Church and American Legion Hindman-Steele Post 429.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, his children, Larry and his wife, Julie, of Whiting, Nancy and her husband, Dave, of Whiting, Tom of San Francisco, Calif., and Lori of Des Moines; grandchildren, Jennifer, Adam, Jessica, Carrie and her husband, David, Chad and Candace; great-grandchildren, Blaine and Lauryn; a brother Eldon Teel of Hornick; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Dale and Dorwin.

He was loved and will be missed.
