Dale S. Teel, 75, of Hornick died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hornick United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carolyn L. Bittner officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa, with military rites conducted by American Legion Hindman-Steele Post 492. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the church in Hornick. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Dale was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Vess and Marie (Steele) Tell. The family moved to Hornick when he was a child. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from August 1946 until his discharge in August 1949.

He married Janice Skinner on Aug. 1, 1953, in Elk Point, S.D. She passed away Dec. 14, 1998, in Onawa, Iowa. He farmed and also was the custodian at Westwood Community School for more than 30 years.

He was a member of Hornick United Methodist Church, American Legion Hindman-Steele Post 492, served on the town council in Hornick and was a member of the Hornick Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include two sons, Michael and his fiancee, Susan of Hornick, and Clifford and his wife, Lori of Hornick; two daughters and their husbands, Peggy and John Beem of Villisca, Iowa, and Deborah and Gary Olson of Oxford, Ala.; six grandchildren, Lindsey, Ashley and Johnny Beem, Halee Olson and Andrew and Hannah Teel; two brothers and their wives, Eldon and Helen of Hornick, and Dwight and Darlene of Whiting, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dorwin.
