George Findley Simpson, 69, died Jan. 18 at his home in Hubert, N.C., after a long battle with cancer. Born April 18, 1935, in Natrona, he was the son of the late Louis O. and Anna Wylie Simpson. He was a 1953 graduate of Freeport High School and retired from the Marine Corps as master gunnery sergeant after more than 30 years. He had been wounded in Vietnam. His love of sports had him managing Marine baseball teams. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Shigeko Fukuyma Simpson; three sons, Robert Simpson of Locust Grove, Va., Troy Simpson of Fayetteville, Ga., and Thomas Simpson of Gulfport, Miss.; three sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Joy) Howard of Ligonier and Carol Shaw Kremer and Mrs. Russell (Lois) Doerr, both of Sarver; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother. SIMPSON - Services for George Findley Simpson, who died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, were Jan. 21 at JONES FUNERAL HOME in Jacksonville, N.C. Burial, with military honors, was at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
