SKOWHEGAN – Another angel went home on June 6, 2015 when Laura S. Henry, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born in Peterboro, N.H. on Feb. 10, 1929 the daughter of Edward and Lajha (Williams) Rajaniemi. She was raised in the Searsmont area where her parents ran a farm.

It was on their farm that she met Philip Henry and they were married in 1946. Together they raised their 11 children in Winslow and Skowhegan. Laura loved being a mother and grandmother. They remember her playing lots of games with them when they were young. She was an avid fisherman and she might just drop a line in anywhere and end up with quite a catch. In her free time, Laura also enjoyed card games, bowling , golf and bird watching. She also liked watching church on TV.

She was a member of the VFW Post 8835 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Bush Batcher Post 192 in Athens, and the Skowhegan Federated Church.

Laura is survived by her children, Linda Marson and significant other Michael Taylor, Sr., Loretta DiMarzio, Bruce Henry and wife Susan, Sandra Henry and wife Ginny, Edward Henry, Crystal Steward and husband Gary, Penni Quimby and husband Randy, James Henry and significant other Sheryl Madore, and Philip Henry, II and wife Paula; 35 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Berry and her husband Donald; many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband Philip in 1988; daughters, JoAnn Dostie and Georgette Madore; grandson, Spurlan Emery; three brothers and a sister.

A graveside service will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.

Laura's family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at EMMC's ICU and to Dr. Crawford for the excellent care and support they provided Laura and their entire family.
