Gussie Lee (Babe) Addison Johnson

Gussie Lee (Babe) Addison Johnson, 85 years of age of Marvin, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN. Born in Buchanan County, December 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles Graham Addison and Charlotte Keen Addison.

She was a thirty four year member of the Garden United Methodist Church. She and her husband where former owners and operator of Johnson Café’, from 1952-1965 at Keen Mountain. In 1966 they begin operating Johnson Country Store at Marvin, until they closed it in 1986. She enjoyed bowling and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Andrew Johnson; sister, Ann Jackson and four brothers, Claude, Glenn, Gilmer Addison and an infant brother.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Boyd of Chesterfield, VA; sons, Danny Johnson and wife Joyce of Raven, VA, Rusty Johnson and wife Dale of North Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Grace Ratliff of Oakwood, VA, Geneva Ratliff of Oakwood, VA, Lucille Relyea of Boise, Id.

She was also survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Gussie Lee (Babe) Addison Johnson will be conducted Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Keen Mountain, VA with Pastor Tom Witten, Pastor Ray Amos and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Mutter-Addison Cemetery on Route 626, Marvin, VA.

Active pallbearers will be Dean Johnson, Brad Johnson, L.D. Johnson, Arlin Fynaardt, Chuck Ratliff and Chris Ratliff.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Jackson, Mickey Addison, Greg Addison, Greg Ratliff, Jeff Ratliff, Keith Ratliff and Eric Addison.

The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Keen Mountain, VA after 5:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
