The Aucott family members who came to Germantown, Philadelphia in the 1940's were from Hinckley, Leistershire England with roots in Stoke Golding.

Most family members were frame work knitters and weavers.
There was a depression in the Leicestershire wool and weaving industries and at least 3 Aucott families found themselves living at the "Bishops Fee" poor house by 1841. (1841 census)
From 1841 to about 1847 they traveled to Germantown, Philadelphia PA., where they had been offered work as weavers, and they were very successful.

Family members *, who also came to Philadelphia, were Samuel, James, George, and Joseph Aucott. At least three of their sisters, Charlotte, Ann & Cornelia came with them, as well as their wives and children. They were all the children of James Aucott and Ann Frith of Hinckley, Leicestershire, England.

The children of James Aucott and Ann Frith were
