We do not know any birth or parental information for Elizabeth Montgomery.

She married Hugh Montgomery Jr. about 1779 in Lancaster County, South Carolina.

Elizabeth is last found on the 1830 Census living with her son, Joseph, on the family farm. She dies sometime after and was buried in this grave-yard.

Nisbett - Many biographical family sources project that her maiden name was "Nisbett". We know her first name is "Elizabeth" from her husband's LW&T. Alexander Nisbett, Jr. and Hugh Montgomery III were close friends. Alexander has a sister named Elizabeth so this may have lead to the assumption. But there is no mention of a marriage between the two in the "Nisbett Narrations" and it shows that his sister was married to someone else. Also, there is no mention of any other "Elizabeth Nisbett" in the book who would be the age of his wife. Generally during this time period, family members inter-married somewhere along the line. None of Hugh's daughters married a "Nisbett".
