Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Wall Layfield, 69, were held Sunday afternoon, Febuary 13th from the Hardwick Christian Church with burial in West View Cemetery. Mr. Layfield died Friday, Febuary 11th in a local hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Layfield was a member of the Hardwick Christian Church and served on the Board of Deacons for many years. He was a retired employee of Central State Hospital and a member of the Woodmen of the World No.739.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nellie Happoldt Layfield
of Irwinton Road, Milledgeville; one son, A.W. Layfield of Farmer City, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. H.A. Leming of Gordon and Mrs. Louie E. Veal, Jr. of Milledgeville; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Blount of Eatonton, Mrs. Evelyn Yarbrough and Mrs. Bertha Shelton, both of Milledgeville; seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
