Mr. Layfield was a member of the Hardwick Christian Church and served on the Board of Deacons for many years. He was a retired employee of Central State Hospital and a member of the Woodmen of the World No.739.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nellie Happoldt Layfield
of Irwinton Road, Milledgeville; one son, A.W. Layfield of Farmer City, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. H.A. Leming of Gordon and Mrs. Louie E. Veal, Jr. of Milledgeville; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Blount of Eatonton, Mrs. Evelyn Yarbrough and Mrs. Bertha Shelton, both of Milledgeville; seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
