On April 24, 2015 in San Diego, California, Frances Robinson Lambert, 91, passed into eternal life with loving family at her side. The daughter of Jessie B. Robinson and James E. Robinson, Frances was born on August 17, 1923 in Repton, Alabama. She married the love of her life then Ensign Glenn E. Lambert Sr., USN in 1943 just before his deployment to the Pacific. They enjoyed 62 years of married life until his death in 2005.
Frances was the quintessential Naval officer's wife and Southern lady. Always gracious, Frances was legendary in her hospitality. Her beautiful smile could brighten anyone's day. As it happens with Navy wives who must also support the mission, all matters domestic fell upon her very capable shoulders. She had a wonderful self-reliant spirit, which she has instilled into her children and grandchildren. Later in life, she and Glenn retired to Pensacola, Florida and enjoyed a life filled with family, friends, and travel. As members of First United Methodist Church of Pensacola, she and Glenn became Stephen Ministers helping individuals one on one in time of need.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, her parents, and a sister, Tilly. She is survived and dearly missed by her son, Glenn E. Lambert Jr., M.D. (Carol) and her daughter, Susan Lambert Howe (Hank). She left behind four granddaughters, Rachel Howe Alexander (Rocco), Jessica Howe Shannon (Brendan), Madeleine Lambert, Emily Howe Murillo (Loren), and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janice R. Gregg, Janice's daughters, Frances' niece, Kathryn Dawkins, and extended family.
There will be a celebration of Frances' life on June 12, 2015 in Pensacola. Expressions of sympathy can be donated to the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation (800-327-5002) or First United Methodist Church of Pensacola (6 E. Wright Street, Pensacola, Florida, 32501).
