Ames M. Rains, 74, 3230 Arline Ave., died at 6:15 p.m. Friday, June 21, 1963, in the Restorium, 2800 S. Main St., after a five-year illness.

Born Aug. 4, 1888, in Bell Plain Township, Woodford County, Illinois, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Rains. Lived 20 years in Rockford, coming here from Rensselaer, Ind. Married to the former Myrtie Siders in Jackson, Minn., Feb. 2, 1916. Employed as shipping department clerk by H.D. Hudson Manufacturing Co. here for 14 years. Before that he farmed 25 years at Rensselaer, Ind. Member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and of South Bend NFSD and of Jasper County, Ind., Farm Bureau.

Survivors include: his widow, Myrtle; three sons John and Russell, both of Rockford; and Francis, Loves Park; three granddaughters; two gransons; one sister, Mrs. Linnie B. Sage, Rensselaer, Ind.; two nieces; two nephews; and two aunts, El Paso, Ill.

Services at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
