Anne Elizabeth (Burns) Alexander, a long-time resident of East Greenwich, died Wednesday, June 4, 2015, at Kent County Hospital. She was born February 11, 1923, in Providence, daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Clarke) Burns.
Anne graduated from Saint Xavier's Academy, and worked for the Hood Rubber Co. She was the past president of AARP RI and was an active volunteer who worked tirelessly in her community, serving on numerous civic boards and committees in East Greenwich. She was also a long-time communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Anne was predeceased by John F. Alexander, Jr., her beloved husband of 49 years; and her siblings, Marie, Dorothea, Joseph, Francis and John Burns. She is survived by her three sons, John and Donna, and their children, Sarah, Brooke, John, Grace and Mercy, Joseph and his children, Laurie and Joseph, Paul and Christine and their daughters, Claire and Paige-Marie; and 11 great-grandchildren.
