"From one of the histories written for the town of Leon we find that Eber Kelley came into Leon, in the year 1828, and located on the north side of lot 1, in a forest that required hard and untiring labor to produce a farm. I am unable to say very much more as regards this venerable pioneer, except the fact, that when he came into this far-away part of God's old wilderness, he had a son in his possession, named Benjamin Kelley, and we note that hard by the grave of Eber Kelly, is that of this son Benjamin."
