Lucille Mary Schmidt, beloved daughter of William and Rose Schmidt (deceased), was born in St. Thomas, Missouri, April 9, 1934, and baptized on April 11, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame on August 2, 1954, receiving the name Sister Rose William Schmidt. In 1980, she transferred to the Sisters for Christian Community, SFCC.
Rose was privileged to answer God’s call to be a Woman of the Church, ministering to God’s people primarily through Catholic Education. Her ministry of the last fifty-plus years included teaching and administration both on the local level, as well as Diocesan Leadership.
Rose’s first twenty professional years were spent serving in the Midwest, followed by the last thirty years becoming quite active as a Consultant, Administrative Leader, Personnel Director for Diocesan Schools, and Learning Innovator in her much-loved southern California.
Rose is survived by her sister, Norma Lueckenhoff Ullman, St. Thomas; three nephews, Bill (Diane) Lueckenhoff, Jim (Janet) Lueckenhoff, Larry (Linda) Lueckenhoff, all of St. Thomas, and three nieces, Judy (David) Schroeder, St. Thomas, Jeannie (Morris) Wilbers, Butler, Missouri, Janette (Doug) Rushing, Kansas City, Missouri, 21 great nieces and nephews, and several great, great nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Rose was preceded in death by one sister, Anita Radmacher Baumhoer.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, with a funeral Mass immediately following at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Thomas, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
