From Contributor #49329496:
In Dec. 1833, barely six months after their summer wedding, Marianne and her husband sailed from Boston for Asia Minor as missionaries of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. After a trip of 47 days, they reached Smyrna and then proceeded to Constantinople in a sailing vessel. By the spring of 1835, they settled permanently in Trebizond.
