Henry Clark was baptized on September 1, 1837 in the First Church of Milford. He married Jane Williamson on January 14, 1858 in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He worked as a joiner.

Henry enlisted in the U.S. Army during the American Civil War and was mustered into service on August 31, 1862. He was assigned as a Corporal to Company F, 27th Regiment Infantry Connecticut Volunteers, organized in New Haven in September 1862 and commanded by Colonel Richard S. Bostwick. Besides general picket duties in the Washington, D.C. area, his unit also fought in the following operations: The Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia on December 13, 1862, The Battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia on May 3, 1863, and The Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 2nd and 3rd, 1863. Henry was Honorably Discharged from service on July 27, 1863.

Henry and Jane had four children, Lillian Idella Clark, Herbert Anderson Clark, Clarence Linden Clark, and Clifford Henry Clark.

After the death of Jane in 1903, Henry married Eliza Virginia Hall on May 12, 1904 in New York, New York.

Henry died at age 85 years, 1 month, and 20 days old.
