On Sunday, Dec. 13 at 2:00 PM the funeral services of Mrs. Chas. H. Marvin were held in the Lutheran church of Rhame, conducted by Rev. Rolf Norman.
Bessie May Brooks was born Aug. 27, 1878 at Cresco, Iowa. At the age of 17 she was married to Chas. H. Marvin at Fredericksburg, Iowa, Aug* 29, 1895.
After twelve years they moved to North Dakota, living for a time on a homestead north of Rhame, later moving into town where they have since made their home.
Five children were born to them, a son and daughter preceded their mother in death. Surviving her, are her husband, a son Kenneth, and two daughters, Zetha and Zola; three brothers, Abram, of Lemmon, S. Dak., Solon of Philip, S. Dak., Ernest of Allison, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Dickens, Hawkeye, Ia.
Mrs. Marvin has been in poor health for the past several years suffering from a heart ailment. She was taken suddenly ill on Thursday evening, and passed away early Friday morning, December 11.
Mrs. Marvin will be sadly missed in her home and community. Her first interest was her home and the welfare of her children.
She was affiliated with the Baptist church, and was a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge.
She was laid to rest beside her daughter in the Mound cemetery. Casket bearers were J.O. McLaughlin, R.J. Perrin, Knute Thompson, A.K. Dahl, T.O. Klovstad, and R.V. Hutchinson.
