STATESVILLE David Edgar (Doc) Douglas III, 64, of 120 Rita Gale Road, Statesville, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at home.
He was born June 19, 1949 in Iredell County, to David Edgar Douglas Jr. of Statesville and the late Cornelia Bass Hartsell Douglas. He was a self-employed construction worker and a member of Midway United Methodist church.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Gale Douglas.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his previous wife, Judy C. Douglas of Troutman; two sons, Joel Douglas (wife, Sheree) of Statesville and Ryan Douglas (wife, Crystal) of Troutman; two daughters, Kelli McAlpin (husband, Matthew) of Statesville and Erica Brown (fianc‚, Ted Hall) of King; also Erica's mother, Melissa Britt of Mr. Douglas's home; two sisters, Merilee Gwaltney (husband, Jack) of Hiddenite, and Lisa Cannon (friend, Jack Killen) of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Brittany Hattier (husband, Tim) of Michigan; Chandler Douglas of Statesville, Madelyn Douglas of Statesville, Mary-Ryan Douglas of Troutman and David Allen Douglas of Troutman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Midway United Methodist church. The Revs. Gervace Hitch and Wesley Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Midway United Methodist church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., prior to the service and at other times at his father's home, 1223 Midway Road, Statesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Midway United Methodist Church, 1200 Midway Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
