Rex Eric Roberts, 53, of South Charleston, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at home.

Rex was a 1980 graduate of South Charleston High School. He is the current president of the Charleston Light Opera Guild and was a 25-year employee of Mardi Gras Casino and Resort. He was a former employee of the West Virginia Lottery, Ames, Murphy's Mart, Rescare and was a former Kanawha clown. He loved music and was present at every possible performance at CLOG and enjoyed camping at Pirate Land in Myrtle Beach.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford H. and Sylvia J. Roberts, and grandparents, Chester and Villie Potter and Eddie and Gertrude Roberts.

He is survived by brothers, Calvin Stover (Tina), Mike Roberts and Randy Roberts (Julie), and sisters, Wilda Scaggs (Howard) and Sheila Smith. Rex is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his longtime canine companion, JoJo, who was adopted by his good friends, Roger and Nancy Thaxton.

A memorial service to honor the life of Rex Eric Roberts will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 5, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, #1 Deerwalk Lane, Charleston, with the Rev. Terry Yahr officiating. Burial beside his parents will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Charleston Light Opera Guild, 411 Tennessee Ave., Charleston, WV 25302.
