LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, March 8, 1984, p.6. 'Thurman Dickey, 429 E. Washington, died at St. Joseph's Hospital at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 4. Services were held Tuesday, March 6, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billie N. Dickey officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Dickey was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Canton, a son of Frank Dickey and Carrie Jane Carroll Dickey. He was a retired truck driver. He attended Avery schools and lived in the Paris area until 1936 when he moved to California. He returned to Paris in the late 1940s. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Virginia Day of Lancaster; three brothers, the Rev. N. T. Dickey of Paris, B. R. Dickey of Kemp and B. W. Dickey of Dallas; one stepbrother, Boyd Bartee of Winnsboro and several nieces and nephews.'
