"Mrs. Retta Cooper, a well-known Chillicothean, died about 6:15 o'clock Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Burnham, Langley, Okla. Mrs. Cooper, ill of a heart ailment for several years, left here in November 1943 to make her home with Mrs. Burnham. The body will be returned here for burial but arrangements for the service have not been made.

Retta Meek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fielding Meek, was born in Mercer County, Missouri on August 10, 1857, but came to Chillicothe as a small girl and lived most of her life here. She was active in the work of the First Methodist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star and Rebekah lodges.

Gram Cooper, her husband, died in 1924. A daughter, Mrs. Roy A. Smith and two sons, A.B. Cooper and John Cooper, also preceded her in death.

Besides the daughter, Mrs. Burnham, who will accompany the body here, other survivors include three brothers, Jim E. Meek and John F. Meek of Chillicothe and A.M. Meek of Kansas City; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren." The Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, February 1, 1945
