Nine children were born of this marriage, three dying in infancy. The eldest child, H.O. Meek, passed away in September 1922. The surviving children, all of whom reside in Chillicothe, are Jim E. Meek, Mrs. Retta L. Cooper, Basil J. Meek, John F. Meek, and A.M. Meek. There are also 15 living grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Estep of Woodward, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Meek was the last surviving charter member of the First Methodist Church of this city and was one of the first persons in the county to sign the pledge of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. In the pioneer days, Mrs. Meek became well-known for her charitable deeds. Wherever there was sickness or distress, she was sure to be found and did much work for the sick and wounded soldiers during and following the Civil War. Her life has been one of service and keen interest in people and events and in her death Chillicothe loses a loved and valued pioneer citizen.
Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Ben C. Jones from the family home at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be at Edgewood Cemetery." The Chillicothe Constitution, May 21, 1925
