88, passed away peacefully May 31, 2015 with her family by her side.

She retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education after 25 years of service as a plant operator. She was a Kentucky Colonel.

Anna was born on October 18, 1926, in Louisville, to the late Willard and Myrtle Merideth.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Riggs; her son, William Earl Riggs; and grandson, James Edward Riggs.

Anna is survived by her children, James Lee Riggs (Shirley), Carol Ann Putman (Richard), Patricia "Theresa" Blackmon (Frankie), Brenda Carlile (Jim), and Debra House (Dennis); and brother, George Merideth (Lonnell). She had 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville). A funeral service to honor the life of Anna will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home-Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
