Leonard J. Asheim RAPID CITY - Leonard J. Asheim, 93, Rapid City, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Rapid City Care Center. He was born on Feb. 16, 1910, to Johannes and Lucinda (Freeman) Asheim in Elm Springs. He attended grade school in Elm Springs. After leaving Elm Springs he attended Business College at National College of Business from 1929 to 1933. He married Rita Rose Coe on Oct. 7, 1934, in Rapid City; then later divorced. He worked as a bellhop at Alex Johnson and later was employed at Continental Trailways, where he retired. He aided in World War II by arranging civilian transportation for military troops. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge. He is survived by his son, Ronald Eugene Asheim, Rapid City; and his daughter, Debra Lien, Scottsdale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by Rita Rose Asheim on Sept. 17, 2002; his brother, Oscar Earl Asheim; three sisters, Ada Cornelia Asheim, Mae Asheim Corner, and Gladys Asheim Moorhead. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
