Samuel T. Davidson, 77 passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at Garden Valley Manor in Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015; followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at the First Baptist Church of Platte City, MO. Following cremation, a private family graveside service will take place in the Wellsville, KS Cemetery, at a later date. The family suggests contributions be given to the Sam Davidson Memorial Fund c/c Wells Bank of Platte City. Samuel was born August 19, 1937 in Wellsville, KS to Cleo Theodore and Ethel Mae (McGhee) Davidson. Samuel married Shirley Mae McMillen on June 16, 1957 in Wellsville, KS. He worked as a cargo handler for Braniff Airlines in Kansas City until 1982, later working for Kansas Gas Service, as a mechanic, until his retirement in 2000. Samuel was a resident of the Platte City area since 1970, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Platte City. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, family man and friend. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, helping both his sons to achieve their Eagle Scout Awards. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and 2 sisters Jane Courter, and Treva Mae Paugh. Samuel is survived by: his wife Shirley, of the home; 2 sons Roy Theodore Davidson and wife Susan of South Haven, KS, and Thomas Paul Davidson and wife Loretta of St. Joseph, MO; 2 daughters Cindy Mae Shaw and husband Lynn of Camden Point, MO, and Julia Linn Pennel and husband Gene of Perry, KS; 1 sister Neita Robbs of Baldwin, KS; 9 grandchildren Jesie, Sarah, Kallie, Erica, Josh, Beth, Jake, Alivia, and Matthew; and 3 great grandchildren Nevada, Lawrence, and Eli.
