Nancy Jane Courter, 74, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at her home in Edgerton, Kansas, with her family by her side.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at Wellsville Baptist Church, 3rd & Main, Wellsville, Kansas, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

Family will meet with friends at Wellsville Baptist Church Life Center, from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 13, 2014.

Inurnment Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas.

Nancy was born on Sunday, July 9, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Chleo and Ethel (McGhee) Davidson.

She was a lifelong resident of Wellsville.

She attended Wellsville schools and graduated from Platte City High School, Platte City, Missouri with the class of 1957.

On June 9, 1957 Nancy was united in marriage with Robert Courter in Wellsville, Kansas. He survives of their home.

Other survivors include her three children, Gena Ott and husband Tim of Madison, Kansas, Jeff Courter and wife Cindy of Wellsville, and Leonard Courter and wife Rebanna of Ottawa; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Neita Robbs of Baldwin City; brother, Sam Davidson and wife Shirley of Platte City, Missouri; and brother-in-law, Deewayne Paugh of Mesquite, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Treva Paugh; infant sister, Judith Ann Davidson; and infant brother, Charles Roy Davidson.

Nancy was not only a wife and mother; she worked on the family farm throughout her life. She also worked at the Edgerton Coop as a bookkeeper in the late 1960's and mid 1970's; Woolco Department Store as an office manager in Overland Park in the mid to late 1970's; Kramer Products in Gardner in the early 1980's; church preschool in Wellsville and Edgerton in the late 1980's; and owned and operated, with her husband, the Rock Creek Country Meats in Wellsville in the early to mid 1990's.

She was a longtime member of the Wellsville Baptist Church, serving as deacon, helping in Sunday school, Bible school, as well as the choir; Rock Creek Ladies Club; and manager of Courter Corn Camp.
