CARIBOU - Raphael "Ray" Guerrette, 87 died May 25, 2015 at his Caribou residence. He was born in Caribou August 21, 1927 the son of the late William and Cecile (Longley) Guerrette. He was a graduate of Caribou High School Class of 1945 as well as Southern Maine Vocational School.

Ray served with the US Navy during WW II as well as the Korean War. He married Roberta Guiggey July 2, 1957. Mr. Guerrette was employed as an electrician with Maine Public Service Co. at the Caribou steam plant for over 38 years, retiring in 1989.

Mr. Guerrette was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a life member and past post commander of the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion, where he also served as membership chairman.

Ray was a staunch veterans advocate serving on the Southern Aroostook County Council, Charter member and past chairman of the Northern Aroostook Veterans Medical Facility Inc. (The VA Clinic at Cary Medical Center), Past chairman of the Liaison Committee of the Caribou Veterans Home as well as the State Veterans Home Board in Augusta, charter member of the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, chairman of the Caribou Veterans Honor Roll Memorial committee and was an unsung hero for Veteran's medical services in Aroostook County.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, including a special niece Anne Dsupin and her husband John of Nashville Plantation, special cousins Andy Guerrette and Kathy Guerrette-Whiten, and a sister-in-law Leola Guerrette.

Mr. Guerrette was predeceased by his wife, Roberta in 2012 and a brother Reginald.

Interment will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 5/27/2015 & Mockler Funeral Home)
