Early Life: Clifton was born on April 25, 1920, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Richard David and Mary Ellen Olsen Wadley. He was ninth of ten children. He was raised and worked on the family farm in the Manila area. He attended schools in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Following graduation, Clifton attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. With the outbreak of World War II he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater where he was one of a few survivors from the Battle of Tarawa in the Gilbert Islands. After returning from service, he married Mary Mills in 1946; together they had two sons, David and Kent. She passed away May 28, 1966. He later met Mary Richins Nelson; they married February 9, 1968, who added four additional children to their family. She passed away September 9, 2004. Clifton spent the majority of his life owning and working the Sunny Cove Fruit and Dairy Farm. He was known for the delicious peaches he raised and handpicked. He also owned and managed the RD Wadley Clay Company. Clifton later drove a school bus for Alpine School District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and gardening. Family parties were often held at the farm, most recently in celebration of his 95th birthday. Clifton was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he held many positions including serving in the bishopric of the original Manila Ward. Clifton J. Wadley, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, May 23, 2015, in the same home in which he was born. He was 95.
Survived By: Six children: David Wadley, Pleasant Grove; Kent (Shauna) Wadley, Ferron; Marilyn (LaMar) Dahl, Cedar Hills; Joyce Huntsman, Kathy (Wattie) Watkins and Dennis (Sherri) Nelson, all of Pleasant Grove; 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and two great great grandsons.
Preceded In Death By: His wives; his parents; nine siblings: Fern, Glen, Grace, Mary Isabella, Albert, Lucille, Merlyn, Arvil, Leah; and son-in-law, Blaine Huntsman.
