Gary H. "Bud" Ligier, age 61, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at his residence. He was born June 11, 1953 in Dayton, OH, the son of Joseph and Jean Ligier.
"Redbud" or "Bud" for short, had been a horse trainer in Xenia for many years. He loved horses and was good with all kinds of animals. He was a great musician, being the Lead Guitar in the band, Redbud & Co., until a stroke in 2009 ended his performing days. He also enjoyed fishing. Most importantly, Bud loved his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana (Plantz) Ligier, whom he married April 7, 1972; daughter: Melissa (Michael) Conley of Celina, OH; siblings: Mila (Darrell) Evans, John Ligier and Jason Ligier; 3 grandchildren: Michael Conley Jr., Lacey and Misty Conley; 4 great grandchildren: Alexis Reed; Adalynn Conley, Cheyenne Conley and Kaden Conley; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of two additional great grandchildren later this year.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his brothers: Bobby and Joey Ligier.
A Celebration of his life will be held 3 PM Thursday, May 28, 2015 at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Friends may call Thursday from 1 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
