Mother of Former Mayor Here Ill 2 weeks; Rites Today
Mrs. Mary Jane MacQueen, 84, widow of David MacQueen and mother of the late Dr. George A. Macqueen, former Charleston mayor, died at 7 a. m. yesterday at her home, 91 Riverside drive, South Charleston, after an illness of two weeks.
Mrs. MacQueen was born in Nicholas county. Her husband, who died in 1933, was one-time sheriff of Nicholas county. She had lived at South Charleston, the past two years and prior to that time resided in St. Albans 10 years.
Surviving are five sons; Dr. W. E. MacQueen of Summersville, Rev. A. A. MacQueen of Morgantown, C. F. and Joseph H. MacQueen of Fayetteville and D. S. MacQueen of Lewisburg, and four daughters, Miss Ida MacQueen at home, Mrs. J. B. Moore of Ashland, Ky., Mrs. H. G. Carskadon and Mrs. Harry Murray of Charleston; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the residence with Rev. J. E. Myers of St. Albans officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill mausoleum.
The body was removed yesterday from the Bartlett mortuary in St. Albans to the residence.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Oliver A. Groves, John Courtney, C. A. McClung, William Hanifan, Newman Groves, Walter Morrison, E. R Shelton and M. C. Green.
