Carrie Evelyn Powell Hudson, 88 passed away on May 20, 2015 at Greenwood Retirement Home in Wrightsville surrounded by her children.
Carrie Evelyn was born on June 8, 1926 in Johnson County to the late Cordy Lanier and Nora Ethelene Harrison Powell, who later remarried to Sam Schwalls. Carrie Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cedric Hudson; daughter, Cherry Hudson Walker Blizzard and grandchildren, Buffy Amanda Walker and Angela Renee Walker; son, Joseph Cedric Hudson, Jr.; brothers, John H. Powell, Bennie V. Powell and Charles L. Powell; sisters, Henrietta Powell Flanders and Anzell Powell Williams.
Carrie Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She taught Kindergarden for many years and loved to garden. She attended Corinth United Methodist Church, where she was an active member and Sunday School teacher as long as her health permitted. Carrie Evelyn was a talented artist, skilled seamstress, wonderful cook and a loyal friend. She was a fomer member of the Wrightsville Garden Club and a Cub Scout Leader. She retired from the Johnson County Service Center and later moved to Greenwood Place Retirement Community due to an extended illness.
Graveside services will be held at Corinth Methodist Church in Meeks, Friday afternoon, May 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Rev Tommy Veal and Rev Jason Owens will be the officiating ministers.
Visitation will be 1 hour before service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be given to the Paul Anderson Youth Home at 1603 McIntosh Street, Vidalia, GA 30474 or Corinth Methodist Church at Meeks Road, Meeks, GA 31049.
Brantley-Powell Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for Carrie Evelyn Hudson.
