BALDWYN – Lee Alvis Crawford, 80 , died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at his home after a long illness. He was born Aug. 30, 1925, to the late Alpha and Gracie Criswell Crawford. He was a graduate of Wheeler High School. He worked at Davis Lumber Co. and retired from Buster McElroy Co. He was a Mason and member of Ingram Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and music minister for 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Phelps. He devoted his life to serving the Lord through singing, doing for others and loving and caring for his family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ingram Baptist Church with Bro. Merle Dickson, Bro. Joe Herndon and Bro. Carey Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Ingram Cemetery. Kesler Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Crawford of Baldwyn, whom he married in 1947; three sons, Ronnie Crawford and wife, Linda, Ted Crawford and wife, Catherine, all of Baldwyn, and Dr. Carey Crawford and wife, Patti, of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Erik Crawford, Alice Adair and husband, Kevin, all of Baldwyn; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Dean Adair and Savannah Elizabeth Adair; one sister-in-law, Lorene Crawford of Baldwyn; one nephew, Jerry Crawford and wife, Judy, of Baldwyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vardaman and Howard Crawford; one grandson, Alan Crawford.
Pallbearers will be Erik Crawford, Jason Crawford, Terry Burcham, Kevin Adair and Cooper Adair. Honorary pallbearers will be Leland Roberts, Billy Joe Devaughn, David Devaughn, Gene Gambill and Jerry Crawford.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ingram Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Alan Crawford Memorial Playground to Ingram Baptist Church.
