Ex-Slave Passes Away
Boston Davis, Well Known Resident of Princeville Dies
Another of those old time negroes, an ex-slave, who belonged to another day and whose life was prolonged beyond the century mark, passed away today at his home at Princeville, this county, in the death of Boston Davis whose funeral was held Sunday at Princeville.
He was one of the worthy old negroes of ante-bellum time he came to Gonzales county away back in the 60s with the Lamkin family to whom he belonged, coming with them from Atlanta, Ga.
Until just a few days before his death he had been in excellent health and able to work about his place. He had a nice home and farm at Princeville and considerable other probity
as well.
He leaves an own son, Wesley was employed by the Gonzales Lumber Company, and an adopted son ___ Davis.
His funeral held at Princeville Sunday morning was largely attended by members of his race and a number of whit people as well.
He was a member of the Princeville Baptist Church.
Davis exact ages is not known, but he was well over 100 years old.
