The daughter of Frederick Vedder and Malinda (Bartlett) Barbero, Sarah was born in New York, and the family moved to Knox County, IL, in 1850. She married Elisha Barrett Selby on 12 Jan 1860 in Maquon, Anson S Potter, Police Magistrate, officiating.
They were blessed with 11 children: a baby girl Selby, who was born and died in 1860, an infant son born and died in 1861, Rhoda Alice, Philemon Barrett Jr, William Henry, Nelson Elisha, Lyman E, Phidelia Maybel, Flora Elizabeth, Edith Gertrude, and Raymond Fredrick Selby.
The family resided near Maquon until moving to Rock Creek, Kansas by 1905. They lived in Rock Creek until August of 1920, when the Lord called Sarah home on 10 Aug 1920 in Maquon, IL.

She is buried in Maquon Cemetery, Sect. 2. lot E-38, Gr. 3.
