Mattie Robbins Walker
(January 17, 1914 - May 19, 2015)

Mattie Robbins Walker passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott. Born in Robbins, TN on January 17, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Julia Sexton Robbins. Mrs. Walker was a well-respected and loved school teacher, having taught at West Robbins, Black Creek, Robbins, and finally 28 years at the Oneida High School - totaling 35 years in all. She was a member of the Eastern Star, as well as the Scott County Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Oneida.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ted R. Walker; brothers: Lawrence, Virgil, Kermit and John Riley Robbins; sisters: Mae Hardwick, Florene Basler and Zona Walker; and nephews: Kent Robbins and Bert Walker.

She is survived by her daughter: Anita Walker; 1 sister: Ina Robbins of Cookeville, TN; special nephew: Kenneth Robbins; nieces and nephews: Carol Mackay, Patti Fitzgerald, Gale Hardwick, Donnie Hardwick, Beth Beck, Debbie Ferrer, Mike Oneal and Louise Walker; cousin: Ella Burress; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Walker family on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Doug White officiating. Music will be provided by David L. Walker.

Burial will follow in the Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mike Oneal, Gale Hardwick, Donnie Hardwick, Tom Fitzgerald, Joe Beck and Dan Walker.
