She is survived by her daughters Carol Walker MacKay and Judge Patricia Walker FitzGerald, son-law Tom FitzGerald and grandsons Garrett, Luke, and Sean FitzGerald, all of Louisville; cherished sisters Mattie Walker of Oneida and Ina Robbins of Cookeville, and her nieces and nephews, including Anita Walker and Kenneth Robbins of Scott County, all who loved her and were loved by her.Zona was retired after working many years as an elementary school teacher. She was an active member of the Ashby Lane Baptist Church for many years, serving for a number of years as church pianist.
Throughout her life, Zona's strength of will, determination, humor, and perpetual sense of wonder kept her young at heart. She touched the hearts and lives of countless students and others with her faith, her charity, and her love. She adored her grandsons, who brought a twinkle to her eyes and a smile to her face until the very end. Known to her grandsons and their friends as "Meemer," she asked for little and gave much, brightening the lives of all who knew her and leaving a legacy of courage and love that will endure in the hearts of all her family and many friends
.Friends may visit with the Walker family on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Carson Memorial Park in Oneida.West-Murley Funeral Home is serving the family of Zona Robbins Walker
