After his discharge in 1952, he returned to Memphis and married Lorene Hurley. He was a former member of Dellwood Baptist Church, where he greatly enjoyed coaching the boys baseball team. He later became a member of Greenlaw Baptist Church. He retired after 40 years at W.R. Grace Chemical and afterwards worked part time for Methodist University Hospital.
Mr. Clement was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Joe Clement and five sisters, Mae Ashford, Edith Clement, Earline Thurman, Clara Walton and Peggy Guess. Also preceding him in death was his youngest daughter, Sharon Clement.
Mr. Clement leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Lorene Clement; daughters, Debbie Brigman Bailey (Dean) of Oakland, TN, Denise Clement of Cordova, TN; two granddaughters, Mandy Brigman Garner (Jeff) of Oakland, TN, Ashley Chapman (Bryan) of Oakland, TN; 2 step-grandsons, Michael Bailey and Tim Bailey, both of Memphis, TN; four great grandchildren, Dallas, Hannah, Olivia, Jaxon; and one step great-granddaughter, Zaiah. His surviving siblings are Charles Clement (Pat) of Bartlett, TN, Frank Clement (Gen) of Polson, MT and Opal Still of New Albany, MS. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom he greatly loved.
Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Clement will be conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, May 22nd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with interment in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. A visitation for Mr. Clement will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, May 21st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Jeff Garner, Bryan Chapman, Tim Bailey and Michael Bailey.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Crossroads Hospice, 1669 Shelby Oaks Drive, Memphis, TN 38134.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Crossroads Hospice, especially Becca and LaShelle, who made his home going journey much easier and sweeter. John 3:16
