Mrs. Melinda T. Buttry dies at her Home on Olive street in this city Monday.
Death summoned one of Carmi's Oldest Citizens Monday in the person of Mrs. Malinda T. Buttry, who was making her home with her son, Samuel Buttry on Olive street. She had suffered only a short time of pneumonia fever, which caused her death.
Mrs. Buttry was born in North Carolina, moving when a young lady to Tennessee where she lived for only a short time, moving to Carmi, and aasd been a resident of this city ever since.
Her Husband, James Buttry preceded her in death 52 years ago. She leaves three, sons, Samuel Buttry, Robert Buttry, of this city, Lewis Buttry, two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Gains and Mrs. Mary Ann Little, with a host of friends to mourn her death.
She had been a member of the Christian church in this city for many years.
Funeral service were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 O'clock at the home by Minister U. S. Johnson, assisted by Rev. E.M. Ryan, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Maple Ridge Cemetery.
