V. June Alexander peacefully passed away at her beloved home on March 14, 2015 at the age of 92. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, March 19 at Disciples Christian Church, where she was a charter member.

June was born in Garber, Oklahoma to Madge (Mires) Alton and Glenn Alton on March 26, 1922. Her childhood was spent in Garber surrounded by her loving parents, her younger brother Clyde (Bud) Alton and many adoring aunts, uncles and cousins. During her high school years, she met the love of her life, Lloyd Raymond Alexander and they were together until his death on July 22, 2014.

Lloyd and June graduated from Garber High School and went on to the University of Oklahoma where June graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and a passion for OU football. The Alexanders were married October 22, 1944 in the midst of Lloyd’s service to his country in the Army during WWII. After the war, Lloyd took a job with Phillips Petroleum Company and they moved to Bartlesville.

June’s life was a testament to service. She was a loving wife and mother, always active in church life as a leader in the women’s group, a homeroom mother at school, a Brownie leader, and the neighborhood mom who was always home to welcome everyone with open arms and delicious homemade treats. During the empty nest years June was very active in the Jane Phillips Auxiliary. She loved working in the pharmacy until they no longer utilized volunteers. Later her smiling face greeted visitors each Friday afternoon at the admitting desk for many years until poor health caused her to reluctantly retire.

June is survived by her daughter, Carol Alexander Kovin (Craig) of Tulsa, her granddaughter, Rebecca Kovin Morris (Wes) of Tulsa, grandson Daniel Alexander Kovin (Brianna) of Norman, five great-grandchildren, her loyal feline best friend Lucy and her loving caretakers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in June’s memory may be made to Disciples Christian Church, 5800 Douglas Lane, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
