Eleanor Frances McKinney died on May 15, 2015. Eleanor was born on June 21, 1927, in New Albany, Indiana. She was the daughter of Virginia Thompson and Roy Ham. She was married to John W. McKinney for 53 years. Eleanor was a graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana.

Her life was devoted to being a good wife and mother. She worked for 14 summers as Head Cook at Hebron Camp in upstate New York. She also served as a volunteer at Spohn Memorial Hospital for 12 years. She was a faithful member of All Saints Episcopal Church, and an affiliate member of the United Church of Granville, where her son serves as pastor.

Eleanor was an avid writer and a prolific poet. She published two religious novels, The Road to Paradise and The Story of Stephen. She also published a collection of poems, Life’s Lines. Her high school graduating class named her Poet Laureate. Eleanor will be remembered for her loving heart, her generous spirit, and her warm countenance.

In addition to her husband, her parents and step-father, Eleanor was predeceased by her twin sister, Ellen, and her grandson, Matthew.

A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, located on S. Staples St.
