Donald W. Redd, 93, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2015.

Don was born March 29, 1922 in Blanding to Ancil Rey and Louise Ann Elliott Redd.

Growing up on a ranch, he performed many jobs at home for his widowed mother. He loved summers being a cowboy for ranchers in the area.

He graduated from San Juan H.S. After attending Dixie College, he was invited into the Navy for WWII. He served his country honorably on a mine sweeper in the Pacific.

While attending Naval classes at Cornell University, he met the love of his life, Marion Lois Middleton. They were married on June 20, 1946 in Flint, Michigan and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

He graduated from the U of U law school and practiced law in Salt Lake City before being activated by the Navy for the Korean Conflict.

He attained the rank of Commander and remained in the JAG corps until retirement from the Navy in 1967. He then worked for the Justice Department.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Branch President in Vista, California; bishopric counselor, and Stake Patriarch in the Annandale, Virginia Stake.

He served diligently for many years as a temple worker and sealer in the Washington DC Temple and as a worker in the Salt Lake Temple.

He and Marion had forty-three wonderful years and five children together. After her death he was blessed to marry a loving woman, Winnifred Dixon. They had over sixteen years of fun together.

He had many friends in Japan, California, Virginia, and Utah. He enjoyed travel and spoke many languages, including Japanese, Navajo, Spanish, French, and Italian.

We will miss you, dad.

He is survived by his children, Ray D. Redd, Randall (Cathy) Redd, and Cathy (Forrest) Allred; twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Winn's children, Rick (Sheila) Gauer, Lori Woodrow, and Larry Gauer, and her nine grandchildren and her eight great-grandchildren. Also by his sister, Jessie Mae (Ken) Macdonald, and sister-in-law, Virginia Redd. Preceded in death by his wives; daughters, Louise and Donna; step-son, Gene; and siblings, Afton, Elliott, Harold Argyle, and Eugene.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wilford Stake Center, 1765 East 3080 South.
