The Death Of Two Brothers
Watsonville, June 11. – The news reached this city this morning of the sudden death last night in San Francisco of John W. Thurber, a former resident of this valley and a brother of Ira Thurber, who died here Saturday evening. A telephone message from the metropolis from Mr. Thurber yesterday afternoon conveyed the information that he would arrive here today to attend his brother's funeral tomorrow. A few hours later he too expired. The remains will arrive possibly tonight from San Francisco and a double funeral may be held.
The deceased was a native of Rhode Island and was aged about 62 years. He came to Pajaro Valley when 18 years of age and engaged in the berry business with his brother. In the early '80's he departed for San Francisco and there he had resided ever since. He was employed by various commission houses in the metropolis during his residence there and was always regarded as a faithful employee and an industrious, upright citizen.
He is survived by the following nieces; Mrs. F.G. Burand, Mrs. Fannie Davidson, Mrs. Nellie Jennings, Miss Dora Thurber and Miss Minnie Thurber.
