Obituary from "Messenger of Truth" Vol 78, No. 7, March 28, 1979:
Our dear wife, mother, and grandmother, Anna Hoeppner Dyck, was born to Jacob and Anna Rempel Hoeppner of August 28, 1890, near Hillsboro, Kansas. She passed away on February 22, 1979, in Emanuel Hospital, Turlock, California, reaching the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 25 days. She suffered a heart attack Sunday, the 18th, and peacefully passed away in her sleep early Friday morning.
Mother grew to womanhood in the Hillsboro community where she received her education. At the age of nineteen, she became convicted of her lost condition and became converted and found peace with her Lord. She was baptized by Min. Peter Baerg in 1909, remaining true and faithful to the Church until her end.
She was joined in marriage to me, David H. Dyck, on October 4, 1914, sharing joys and sorrows for over sixty-four years.
Mother served very unselfishly as a minister's wife; especially during the depression years when she was left with the responsibility of the home when Father was away in the work of the Kingdom.
This union was blessed with ten children. We resided at Hillsboro until December, 1943, when we moved to the Winton, California, community. For a short while, we lived at Orland, California, then we moved to Livingston, California, where we lived until her death.
Mother enjoyed fairly good health most of her life, until in more recent years she suffered with heart trouble and other complications, causing her to have a great longing at times to go home to her Maker.
Mother had a great concern for the welfare of souls and of us her children that we would all be saved. She was an example to us in her faith and courage.
Mother is survived by me, her sorrowing husband; five daughters: Bernice, Mrs. Pete Nickel of Hillsboro, Kansas; Alice, Mrs. Dick Loewen of Glenn, California; Alma of the home; Mary Ann, Mrs. John Friesen of Glenn, California; Martha Mae, Mrs. Richard Penner of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; four sons: Elmer of Stapleton, Georgia; Jona of Hillsboro, Kansas; Irvin of Atwater, California; and Harvey, presently of the Dominican Republic; forty-seven grandchildren and seventy-five great-grandchildren; one sister, Lydia Wedell of Winton, California; one brother, Ed Hoeppner of Winton, California; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
One daughter, Salome, and four grandchildren preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Winton, California, February 27, 1979, with Ministers John Jantz and John Wiens officiating. Short graveside services were conducted by Min. Leon Koehn. Burial was in the Winton Cemetery.
